FAQs…
1st time waxing?
If it is your first wax, don’t worry, we will get through it together! Your hair should be at lease 1/4 of an inch (a long grain of rice). If you can let your hair grow, unshaved, for 3 weeks, that is ideal. And if you haven’t shaved, no worries, Don’t! There’s really no such thing as your hair being too long, and if it needs a little trim, I’ll do it. It is better to come in with hair that is too long than too short. The wax will be able to grab onto the hair for a smoother finish.
If you’re able to, it makes waxing a little easier if you exfoliate the area before waxing, usually about 24-48 hours prior to your appointment. This will remove dead surface cells and will allow your hair to emerge from the skin to get waxed.
Pro Tip: Take an ibuprofen or Tylenol about an hour prior to the service to help take the edge off just a little.
Immediate After Care
It’s recommenced for the 1st 24 hours to take it easy, especially after a first time wax, or a wax that has been a little longer. Expect the area to be red and irritated. Welts and red prickly dots are normal and caused by a histamine reaction, this will usually subside on its own. If it does not contact me directly. Avoid touching the skin, hot tubs, saunas, and workouts. This increases the chances of bacteria getting into the freshly waxed pores and can cause irritation and breakouts.
Continued care / Consistency
Manual exfoliation is the best thing you can do for aftercare. Once in the appointment, I will talk more in depth about frequency of exfoliation and what should work best for you. Everyone is different and skincare/aftercare can be a trial and error process.
I recommend waxing every 4-6 weeks, depending on your hair growth patterns. Being consistent is the best thing you can do. This will allow your hair to get on a hair growth cycle so your waxes will last longer, and most importantly, your hair will be more sporadic, causing less discomfort and an easier wax.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world!
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not in some of us, it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
